The opportunity
If you’re an experienced academic in performance design with a strong grasp of higher education admissions, this is your opportunity to take on a pivotal role shaping entry into Wimbledon College of Arts, part of University of the Arts London (UAL). Course subject areas at Wimbledon College of Arts include costume, technical arts, theatre design, acting and performance, art direction and visual effects and puppetry.
As College Admissions Tutor, you’ll lead the academic oversight of admissions across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You’ll review applications and portfolios, make decisions on offers, rejections and referrals, and ensure entry standards are applied consistently and fairly. Working with Course Leaders, Programme Directors and central Admissions colleagues, you’ll help maintain clarity around entry requirements, contribute to contextual admissions, and support diagnostic assessments where needed.
Your role goes beyond decision-making. You’ll be the key academic contact for student recruitment in the School of Performance, supporting open days, offer-holder events and conversion activity, while also contributing to the progression of undergraduates into our postgraduate courses. Collaboration is central: you’ll liaise with colleagues across UAL to share best practice in admissions and help ensure swift, high-quality decision making. A small amount of teaching, connected to your area of subject expertise, may also form part of the post.
Your profile
We’re looking for someone with a higher degree, e.g. MA in performance or a related field, alongside teaching experience and/or equivalent industry practice.
Experience of student recruitment or admissions within higher education is essential, together with a strong understanding of teaching and learning in your discipline. A teaching qualification would be an advantage.
Joining UAL means becoming part of one of the world’s most creative learning environments. You’ll have the opportunity to influence the student journey from the very beginning, helping to shape the next generation of performers, artists and practitioners.
The scheduled interview date is Friday 31 October 2025.
