The opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Technician to join our Technical Fine Art Programme at Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges of Arts.

This is a hands-on, technical role, drawing on your technical expertise to provide guidance and advice to students within the fine art studio spaces. You will actively engage with technical teaching to develop and support the delivery of learning activities within the Studios. This will include delivering technical workshops, inductions, diagnostics, technical tutorials, practice analyses and talks.

You will work closely with students as they explore and develop their creative projects, helping them enhance their knowledge of inter/transdisciplinary fine art practices, including moving image and 3D/digital making skills.

Being a member of the Fine Art Technical Team is an opportunity to be part of a vibrant, collaborative academic community where technicians are valued as educators and mentors. You will play a vital role in preparing students for the real world through hands-on learning and technical insight.

Your profile

We are seeking a candidate with a fine art background to support students and the technical team in studios and workshops. You should be able to work confidently both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Fine Art at Chelsea offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment with numerous exhibitions taking place throughout the year. Therefore, a strong understanding of current contemporary art exhibition strategies is essential, along with proven experience in both physical and digital creative production within fine art and related exhibition contexts.

The role also requires demonstrable technical expertise across a broad range of 2D, 3D, digital, audio, and analogue making and fabrication techniques. Experience with Arduino or Raspberry Pi is desirable, as is advanced proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite.

This is a fixed term role for 13 months based mainly at Chelsea College of Arts. However, there is potential to work across CCW.

Should you have any questions about the role, please contact Steve Meadows / s.meadows@arts.ac.uk.

Should you have any questions about the application process or require reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Christine Crouch / jobs.ccw@arts.ac.uk.
