The opportunity
London College of Communication (LCC) has an exciting opportunity for a part time Assistant Academic Support Librarian to join our team on a permanent basis.
As a member of the Library Services team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of high quality and student-focused library services which support the academic activities of the University. You will contribute to the daily operational running of the library, which includes local frontline services and working in a functional team. You will support specified courses and programmes of study, establishing constructive working relationships with course teams, and promoting access to resources, collections and services through effective academic liaison. This role supports the courses: BA (Hons) Film and Screen Studies; BA (Hons) Film and Television; BA (Hons) Film Practice.
You will assist in the provision of enquiry services and develop learning materials which encourage the use of resources, services and enhance learning. You will also answer enquiries in person and on-line, via our live chat service, ASK and assist users with general directional and initial information enquiries, including the use of the library catalogue, electronic information resources. You will supervise and contribute to library shelving plus related activities, demonstrating an understanding of manual handling guidelines which will be required when lifting heavy items.
Your working pattern will cover Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to coincide with the teaching schedule of courses and wider team requirements. You will cover one 6.15pm finish per week and we will negotiate the exact working pattern with the successful candidate.
Your profile
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a compassionate, student-centered approach. You should hold a degree level qualification and/or relevant library qualifications, coupled with experience in a library, education or similar information environment.
You will have demonstrable ability to work in a team and be a first-rate communicator with excellent written, presentation and liaison skills. You must also demonstrate the ability to teach information skills and be proficient in Microsoft office, with strong general IT skills.
