The opportunity
We have a vacancy for an Academic Support Librarian to join our Library Services team at London College of Fashion (LCF) on a part time basis.
You will contribute to the development and delivery of high quality, customer-focused library services which support the academic activities of the University.
You will have functional responsibility, along with another member of staff, for Customer Service at LCF Library, which includes overseeing local frontline services and representing LCF Library in department-wide working groups.
You will support specified courses/programmes of study, participating in course committees and Boards of Study. You will establish constructive working relationships with course teams, and promote access to resources, collections and services through effective academic liaison, collection development and information dissemination.
You will plan and develop information literacy sessions which encourage the use of resources and services. You will also answer enquiries in person and on-line and help users with information enquiries, including the use of the library catalogue and electronic information resources.
You will line manage a small team and be responsible for providing professional leadership in your functional area.
The working pattern for this post is currently Wednesday to Friday, working one evening per week until 6.15 pm during undergraduate term, currently a Friday. You will also work one or more evenings per week until 6:15 pm during the vacation period.
There may be limited opportunities to work from home dependent on operational needs.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a compassionate student-focused approach. You should have a degree level qualification and/or relevant library qualifications and relevant experience in a library or other education or information roles.
You will have demonstrable experience of working in a library, Higher Education institution or Information role alongside the ability to work both collaboratively, as part of a team, and independently without direct supervision. You will be a good communicator with excellent written, presentation and liaison skills. You must also demonstrate the ability to teach information literacy skills and be proficient in Microsoft office with good IT skills too.
