The opportunity

The AKO Storytelling Institute works at the intersection of storytelling and social change. Our mission is to enable storytellers and campaigners to make a greater social impact through their work. Through interdisciplinary experimentation and collaboration, we develop evidence-based approaches to the theory and practice of storytelling-for-change.

This is an exciting opportunity to support our mission through providing comprehensive administrative leadership and specialised support to the AKO Storytelling Institute. You will play an important role within the team coordinating operations across different projects including events, managing resources and budgets and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations of the Storytelling Institute as well as identifying opportunities for systems and process improvements.

You will independently handle key administrative tasks with a particular focus on financial administration, event coordination, and office organisation.

Your profile

We are looking for the role holder to have had significant experience in administrative processes, strategic support and event management in a Higher Education environment. Furthermore, knowledge of financial administration processes and administrative systems is a must, alongside the ability to understand and implement University policies for the successful delivery of activity.

The post holder will need to be able to work independently and use their initiative and creativity to resolve problems, plan and prioritise their workload effectively and manage multiple events and activities simultaneously; establishing systems and processes to underpin this work. The post holder will meet and engage with different stakeholders throughout UAL and externally and as such will be required to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

The ability to collaborate is a priority for this role; both in being a proactive and helpful team player but also sharing information and working with other teams across the University. Experience in line management is desirable.
