The opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced Library Manager to play a key role in the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused library services at London College of Communication Library, to support learning, teaching and research activities.
You will lead the LCC Library Sunday staff, and liaise with other site teams to ensure the effective delivery of Weekend services. You will be based at your home library, although you may occasionally be required to work at any of the other UAL libraries. Communicating with our users in person and online, you will be providing a high-quality customer-focused service.
Working Pattern for this role:
The service runs during undergraduate term-time (3 terms per year), Sundays 9:45 to 20:15 with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. This is a 38-week contract (pro-rata), 12.5 hours per week, equating to 0.33 FTE. Depending on the academic year, 31 weeks are worked as a 9.5-hour shift on Sundays, and remaining hours (reserve hours) will be used for training, attending meetings and working during the day as arranged with your line manager.
All our library service roles contribute to running our frontline service. This role offers no opportunities for working from home and you will be expected to work all open weekends.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a degree level qualification and/or relevant library qualifications with demonstratable experience of working in a customer focused service. You will also be able to motivate and lead a team and have experience in the supervision or management of staff and services in a library or similar environment.
You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to make people feel welcome. As a strong active listener, you will also be able to listen to service users and respond in a diplomatic and inclusive manner.
Digital skills, including understanding databases such as the library management system are equally important.
