The Student Communications and Engagement team within this new function, deliver strategic, collaborative, and creative communications to support the student experience. We work with colleagues across the University to ensure our communications are targeted to the needs of our students and that they have access to the information they need.

The successful candidate will help plan and deliver key strategic student communications campaigns, including supporting with their monitoring and evaluation. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, they will be collaborating across teams to generate ideas and ensure the successful delivery of these campaigns.

The role will be an integral part of the team, utilising their skills across the communications and creative content mix and working with colleagues across UAL to enhance the student experience. Planning is an important part of this role and so experience of working on the project management and delivery of communications campaigns in key. The successful candidate will be working across a range of content and communications with the student audience always at the heart of our work.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for producing and sending student emails; planning, researching and publishing stories and managing content on our staff intranet and student-facing website; producing and commissioning content for visual communication such as through the use of printed materials and digital screens; and assisting at student gatherings to engage our internal audiences. The postholder will also liaise with colleagues in teams including student recruitment marketing, social media, and PR and Media Relations to identify opportunities and ensure the right messages are delivered to the right audiences at the right time.

Your profile

We are looking for a creative communications expert who enjoys developing new ideas and delivering audience first content. You’ll also have experience of planning and delivering complex campaigns. We are audience-first and evidence-led, so an understanding of how to measure the success of communications activity is important.

With strong written skills, the post-holder should have a good understanding of publishing digital content and digital accessibility, as well as the ability to find and develop interesting and engaging stories and content for our student audience.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role; both in being a proactive and helpful team player, but also sharing information and working with other teams as part of our new integrated communications structure.

The successful candidate will also meet and engage with different staff and student groups throughout UAL to provide communications activity for different areas of the University.
