The opportunity

Shape the future of admissions at a world-leading creative institution

At University of the Arts London (UAL), we’re internationally renowned for creativity, innovation and diversity. We're now seeking a strategic and inspiring Deputy Head of Admissions to lead our Postgraduate admissions function - a critical role in driving an outstanding applicant experience and contributing to the University’s ambitious student recruitment goals.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in a role that provides an opportunity to lead with impact at one of the most creative universities in the world. This opportunity offers a significant platform for an experienced leader to influence strategy, enhance performance and lead change across a complex and dynamic organisation.

You’ll oversee and deliver a high-quality, efficient admissions service across Home, EU and International markets for Postgraduate applicants from initial application through to enrolment. Working within our Student Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions (SMRA) team, you'll shape admissions policy, lead on operational delivery and champion innovation to improve systems and services.

Your impact starts here. Ready to take the next step? Join us and help shape the future of admissions at UAL. Not sure if this is the role for you? We're hosting an online open session for you to virtually meet a couple of members of the team and ask any questions you may have about the role.

Open session: 16th May from 11:00 to 11:30 (BST) - MS Teams Link

Your profile

You’re a confident, solutions-focused leader with extensive experience managing a large-scale higher education admissions service and a proven track record of delivering improvements in applicant experience and operational efficiency. You're someone who thrives on complexity, builds strong stakeholder relationships, and leads teams with empathy, clarity and purpose.

We’re particularly keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Strategic leadership of a large scale and complex admissions function with a strong understanding of HE policy, process and best practice.
  • Expertise across the full postgraduate global applicant journey, from enquiry to enrolment including managing resources and frontline delivery at scale.
  • Evidence and demonstratable experience of implementing change and continuous improvement initiatives to deliver enhanced applicant and staff experiences.
  • An inclusive, empowering leadership style, capable of motivating teams, setting clear goals and creating a high-performing, collaborative culture.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the political acumen to secure engagement from academic and professional stakeholders at all levels.
