The opportunity

We are looking to grow our network of Associate Lecturers (ALs), creative people skilled at sharing their experiences and knowledges with our students as they develop their ecologically and socially informed design practices within this MA.

ALs are vital in our curriculum and course culture. As an AL, you might offer leadership within some of the units, designing and delivering content, hosting tutorials, and facilitating assessment processes. You might also design specialist workshops or activities where students can experience the imaginative possibilities of design justice, design futures, or design for the pluriverse. ALs might also offer training for our course around specialist areas of their own practice like working with conflict, anticolonial research practices, or somatic learning. ALs might also help the course team craft specialist reading lists or resources that expand, deepen, and critique the student’s learning around these subjects.

Some additional keywords that might appear in your research and practice: Design research ethics, participatory art and design, exhibitions and performance, ecological and social impact, more-than-human design, bio-design, postcolonial studies, queer theory, critical theory, and cultural studies.

Your profile

We welcome anyone to apply who genuinely cares about learning and sharing knowledges with others, and has the courage to imaginatively challenge traditional design and pedagogical approaches. We are also looking for people who understand the need for accessibility, inclusion, and joy for a diverse range of learning needs, styles, and positionalities.

Previous experience teaching at MA or BA level or designing learning experiences is desirable. If you feel you might be a suitable candidate but have doubts about the job description, please do get in touch. We strongly encourage candidates from less obvious or non-traditional backgrounds to apply.

You will work closely with other academic staff, including the Programme Director and Course Leader.

Further information should be viewed on the course pages before application

If you have any specific queries about this role please contact the course leader – e.britton@lcc.arts.ac.uk.

For general queries contact Lesley Wilkins, Senior Resourcing Adviser - lcc.jobs@lcc.arts.ac.uk

You must be resident in the UK to be considered for Associate Lecturer vacancies.
