The opportunity

We are seeking to recruit a highly experienced and passionate lecturer to join the MA Graphic Media Design course team. The Lecturer in Graphic Media Design will collaboratively lead and support the development of curricula and teaching and learning on the course in the Graphic Design Communication Programme at London College of Communication.

The post-holder will play a significant role in the delivery of a practice-led course where students research, interpret, critique and visualise information using a range of media, tools and techniques. The course supports students initiating and delivering a research-led body of enquiry in the field of graphic design – engaging with the social and ethical implications of this practice – and developing a highly informed critical position.

Your profile

We are looking for someone with significant experience and understanding of graphic design practice, which could be predominantly in an industry, academic or creative context. You should have experience in, and enthusiasm for, teaching or mentoring students, through workshops, lectures, or individual support, and a keen interest in fostering research-led learning. You should be confident about delivering lectures on research methods for MA students, including critical, reflexive, discursive and speculative design approaches, and be able to offer guidance on how these methods can be applied within a visual communication design practice.

The person appointed to this role will join the small existing team who work directly on the course, including the course leader and existing senior lecturers, dedicated to delivering teaching and learning on key technical, theoretical and conceptual areas. We recognise that graphic design is an evolving field, so we are keen to hear from a range of candidates interested in applying their academic or professional experience within the field of visual communication and design research to the role. This is, primarily, a teaching and learning position, so an understanding of the context of art and design higher education in the UK, as well as an interest in developing experience in this area is a key attribute we are looking for.

If you’re passionate about graphic design, its contemporary debates, and inspiring the next generation of designers, we invite you to join our team and contribute to the continued success of this exciting and dynamic programme.

If you have any queries about this role or need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact:
