The opportunity

If you offer a proven track record in sales and/or business development, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role driving growth and innovation in a fast-paced, collaborative environment at a world leading university.

 

As Business Development and Commercialisation Manager you will play an important role in helping the London College of Communication Research and Knowledge Exchange department to achieve income targets and growth objectives; connecting businesses, communities and external partners with our creative expertise to deliver innovative collaborations with impact.

 

As a bridge between academia and the commercial sector, you will promote the college’s expertise and resources to external partners and stakeholders. Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Developing a commercialisation pipeline for the college

 

  • Promoting the college’s expertise to external partners and stakeholders, so that academic research and student IP can translate into real-world applications

 

  • Securing commercial partnerships to grow the volume and value of student sponsored projects

 

  • Driving revenue through grants, contracted projects and partnerships to contribute to the college’s financial sustainability

 

  • Developing grant applications to support a variety of activities and projects

 

  • Identifying opportunities for partnership development and new venture creation

 

  • Providing entrepreneurial support to academics and line-managing a team that oversees and supports graduate start-ups

 

  • Building and maintaining industry collaborations with corporations, start-ups, SMEs and investors

Your profile

You will need knowledge of and a demonstrable track record in sales and business development.

 

You will also need demonstrable understanding of the funding mechanisms and processes to support knowledge exchange activity at a university.

 

You will be able to plan, prioritise and manage resources to achieve objectives and KPIs, motivate and lead a team, and navigate complex policies and procedures and provide information to colleagues clearly and concisely.

The ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, academics/founders and industry collaborators is equally important.
