As a member of the Library Services team, you will support specific courses and programmes by working closely with course teams to establish productive relationships and promote access to resources and services. You will plan and deliver engaging information literacy sessions designed to promote resource usage and enhance learning. You will also provide invaluable support to students through in-person enquiries, live chat, and other online platforms, guiding them in navigating the library catalogue and electronic resources to ensure they can access the tools they need.
Beyond these responsibilities, you will contribute to the day-to-day operations of the library, including, supervising and contribute to shelving and ensuring adherence to manual handling guidelines when managing heavier items.
Core working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a requirement to work at least one evening per week until 6:15 pm. Remote work opportunities may be available, depending on operational needs.
About you
We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a compassionate, student-focused approach to academic support. You should hold a degree level qualification and/or relevant library or information-related qualifications, coupled with experience in a library, education or similar information environment.
Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively with both students and academic staff. You should also have experience teaching information literacy skills to diverse audiences and be proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong general IT skills.
We are looking for a team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision and who has a genuine passion for fostering learning in a dynamic academic setting.
