The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to further your career in digital preservation at a world leading university.
As an Assistant Archivist at University of the Arts London (UAL) you will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of student-focused archives and museum services that support teaching and learning through the preservation of our digital collections.
Supported by the Digital Preservation and Access Manager, you will contribute to the programme to preserve and provide access to our extensive digital archives, museum and special collections. You will achieve this by:
- Preparing and uploading digital assets to the digital preservation system (Preservica)
- Retrieving and exporting relevant metadata from UAL’s archives, library and museum cataloguing systems
- Structuring assets and metadata in accordance with local guidance
- Publishing selected digital assets to the UAL Digital Collections user interface
- Contributing to online curated content to promote our digital collections
About you
We are looking for a well-organised and committed individual with a degree-level qualification in information sciences, digital humanities or computer sciences (or equivalent experience).
You will possess knowledge and experience of digital preservation practices and principles.
In addition to this, you will need previous experience of working with digital archive, library or museum collections, as well as demonstrable experience of working with digital preservation systems.
The ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team, is also essential.
