The opportunity

UAL is looking to appoint a new Associate General Counsel to the Legal team. In this role you will lead on employment and education law matters and handle Employment Tribunal litigation.  
You will work closely with the General Counsel and the Employment Solicitor and will be dealing with a mix of employment, student matters and disputes.  The responsibilities include advising on internal investigations, disciplinary and grievance matters, discrimination and equal pay claims, employment status issues and industrial relations.  You will also work with the General Counsel on other contentious disputes include breach of contract claims and education law issues.

You will be joining a team of 10 solicitors and contract managers. The team works with many stakeholders across the entire University, supporting innovative projects and partnerships that enhance the student experience. 

About you

You will be an experienced solicitor (8+ PQE as a guide, however all levels of experience will be considered) with extensive experience of employment law, including significant experience of Employment Tribunal litigation who can work independently and supervise and support colleagues.  

You will also have experience of or a keen interest in education law and a willingness to adapt and tackle new challenges in the Higher Education sector.
