The opportunity
Are you inspired to share your bespoke tailoring expertise in an innovative and creative educational setting Join the team at London College of Fashion as a Specialist Technician, where you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in shaping the next generation of fashion professionals.
As a Specialist Technician, your role will involve offering expert guidance and contributing to teaching and learning activities across the College. You’ll provide students with invaluable technical instruction on garment construction and pattern-cutting techniques, with a focus on craftsmanship and precision. This includes traditional handcraft tailoring, cutting, fitting, measuring, and pattern drafting for both menswear and womenswear.
Your in-depth knowledge of bespoke tailoring techniques and production methods will enable you to deliver highly specialised sewing workshops focused on garment construction. You will demonstrate and teach sewing skills, while also ensuring proficiency in operating specialist machinery and equipment. You will adapt your communication style to effectively teach a diverse range of students, ensuring that each individual gains the education and skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving industry
This position includes working evenings and weekends.

About you
To excel in this role, you should hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in fashion technology, or possess substantial industry experience in bespoke tailoring, garment construction and a comprehensive understanding of pattern cutting, drafting, cutting and fitting, handcraft tailoring methods for both menswear and womenswear.
We are looking for candidates with a strong track record of applying effective teaching methods or professional practices that support excellence in teaching, learning, and inclusivity.
