The opportunity

Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to begin a career in energy management? Join UAL as an Apprentice Energy & Water Officer and play a key role in our mission to achieve net zero. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to develop valuable skills, gain professional qualifications, and positively impact our community and environment.

As an Apprentice Energy & Water Officer, you will enrol in the Junior Energy Manager Level 3 Apprenticeship, not only gaining an apprenticeship qualification but also gaining a Level 1 Certificate in Energy Managment. You will support UAL’s energy and environmental policies by implementing day-to-day initiatives, monitoring compliance, and collating relevant data for reporting. Working within the Estates department and as part of a cross-institutional team led by the Social Purpose Group, you will help drive our ambitious net zero plans. This role is designed to support your development, providing training and guidance to help you gain the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to excel.

The role is hybrid with the office base being Kings Cross. However, please note there will be an expectation to visit all UAL sites as part of this role.

About you

We seek a motivated individual with strong numerical skills and an understanding of data analysis. While an appreciation of technical concepts is advantageous, it is not essential. You should be passionate about energy efficiency and driven to combat climate change. Effective communication skills are crucial as you will analyse large data sets and communicate complex information to non-technical audiences. Your ability to work collaboratively within a team and across different professional groups, while upholding values of equality, diversity, and inclusion, will be key to your success. You must meet the eligibility criteria for the apprenticeship, including having the right to work in the UK and meeting the residency requirements.

To find out more about our net zero ambitions, the University, the progress we are making and roles we are recruiting to, we have a recording of a recent briefing session which can be accessed here:
