The opportunity

University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking for a Learning Technologist to join our Online Production team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design and delivery of innovative and accessible art, design, and fashion learning content.

Working closely with academics, Learning Designers, Visual/UX Designers, Media Producers and Project Managers, you’ll help produce content for Moodle, our virtual learning environment, as well as associated platforms such as Miro, Workflow or Mahara.

You will provide technical support to academics during teaching, addressing any issues that may arise and producing effective solutions to solve problems.

Using your knowledge of content development and design software, you’ll provide guidance on feasibility and technology capabilities to inform decision-making and the selection of appropriate tools and platforms.

You’ll also contribute to the ongoing improvement of practices and processes within the larger design and production workflow, developing best practice to support the production of digital learning materials and activities.

About you

We are looking for a technically skilled individual, who is able to develop draft content into high-quality, inclusive and accessible learning materials and activities.

You will need a good understanding of online Higher Education platforms, (ideally Moodle) and associated learning/authoring tools, with the ability to develop digital materials and learning content/activities to agreed style guides.

You will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of good practice in digital content development, including an understanding of digital accessibility law and best practice.

You will be adept with design software such as the Adobe Creative Suite and collaborative platforms such as Slack, Padlet and Miro. An understanding of web-based design-related languages such as CSS, is also essential.

At our very core, everything we do seeks to challenge the status quo by driving social purpose and standing up for what matters.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds including those who may feel underrepresented in the workforce due to their socioeconomic circumstances such as those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (B.A.M.E.) backgrounds. We aim to be a university where everyone can be themselves and are supported to reach their full potential.

With our commitment to inclusion and diversity, we are proud to be a Race Equality Charter (REC) member to help us reduce barriers that negatively impacts B.A.M.E. staff, a Stonewall Diversity Champion to ensure all LGBTQ+ people are valued at work, a Disability Confident Scheme Committed employer and member of the Business Disability Forum which help us to improve the lives of disabled people in the workplace.
