The opportunity

Central Saint Martins is seeking a Specialist Technician with expertise in digital creativity to join our innovative Digital Labs team. This part-time role involves providing technical support to students in our cutting-edge Digital Media facility.

 

Our facility features a variety of digital learning spaces including a Mixed Reality Lab, a state-of-the-art technology space for exploring the integration of virtual and physical environments; a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) computer suite, equipped with high-performance computers, and the Digital Media Lab, a technology-focused workspace where individuals can design, create, and build digital and physical prototypes using cutting-edge tools and technologies.

 

The Specialist Technician will play a vital role in delivering technical support and specialist knowledge in Adobe Creative Cloud software, digital surface design, print design, pattern making, illustration and fabrication, video editing, post-production, and 3D workflows. Your contributions will include supporting the supervision of learning activities within the technical environment,

ensuring safe use and compliance with Health and Safety regulations and providing critical input on student concepts and creative intentions, offering feedback, and participating in student formative assessments.

 

About you

You will have an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject or considerable experience in a technical role demonstrating graduate-equivalent skills. You should have experience in teaching and/or demonstrating techniques and workflows related to creative digital production.

 

Additionally, you must possess advanced practical knowledge and hands-on experience with all Adobe Creative Cloud software, including preparing digital files for textile and print making, 3D workflows (such as capture and drawing for fabrication like CNC and Laser cutting), film making, and post-production.
