The opportunity

University of the Arts London (UAL) is seeking a well-qualified individual with significant leadership and change management experience, to join us as Dean of School of Pre-Degrees Studies.

You will provide academic and managerial leadership for the School, managing academic and support teams effectively. You will lead on strategic development, delivering key strands of UAL’s strategic commitment to increasing and diversifying access to a creative education and associated change programmes. 

You will create and implement strategy across policy, funding, course portfolios, and product and partnership dimensions, to remove barriers to creative education and careers. In addition to this, you will help deliver access and participation objectives, with specific responsibility for delivering the University’s outreach programmes.

You will also lead the development and delivery of the curriculum, ensuring that all teaching and learning is supported by effective digital and physical learning environments.

This is an exciting senior leadership opportunity, that offers the chance to make a significant impact and contribute to the ongoing success of the School and broader University community.

About you

You will be recognised as a leading authority in creative arts and/or professional management, who possesses experience of successfully delivering creative courses, outreach, progression and pre-degree provision within a further or higher education institution. 

You will provide experience of managing courses, quality systems and processes, evidencing this with a strong portfolio of courses you have developed. You will also possess experience of course operation and institutional audit under the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework, along with experience of planning resources for academic delivery. 

You’ll exhibit excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others. Effective planning and organisation skills are essential, along with the ability to use your creativity and initiative to solve problems.
