The opportunity
University of the Arts London is looking for a well-qualified Specialist Technician AV to join us on a permanent basis.
While ostensibly based at Chelsea College of Arts, you’ll support the delivery of academic learning activities within our lecture theatres, seminar spaces and studios, working across our three colleges (Camberwell, Chelsea, Wimbledon) to ensure operational delivery as required.
You’ll provide responsive on-demand, in-person assistance to staff, supporting them in their use of AV hardware and software for teaching, remote learning, lecture capture and live streaming. You’ll be responsible for testing and diagnosing faults with our AV systems (AV over IP, HDBaseT) and will carry out or facilitate repairs, assisting external integrators where appropriate.
You’ll also carry out regular preventative measures such as routine maintenance, testing and servicing tasks, some of which involve working at height.
This is a full-time, site-based role which may on occasion involve some flexible working to support after-hours events.
About you
With relevant qualifications to BA level or above and/or equivalent job experience with industry certification (e.g. Avixa CTS), you’ll have significant audio-visual support experience in a higher education or enterprise environment.
You’ll have gained knowledge of integrated audio-visual solutions and related software and will be looking to develop your skills by supporting colleagues. You’ll have a strong working knowledge of common switching, distribution, audio and video products – preferably Extron and AMX. Extron configuration/programming experience is highly desirable.
With demonstrable skills in safe and professional installation, you’ll have excellent general integration knowledge and experience.
You’re approachable with good communication skills and even when working under pressure, you’re able to give clear and accurate information to ensure a high level of service delivery.
You’ll be able to demonstrate experience of working in a busy customer/client facing role, where you provided technical support for professional AV hardware and software solutions.
You’re a motivated, reliable and punctual individual who is able to work effectively and flexibly as part of a team and independently.
Interviews are scheduled to take place on 23/04/24 at Camberwell College of Arts.
