The opportunity

The BA (Hons) Music Production at London College of Communication is looking to recruit a Lecturer in Music Production. The course explores key areas of music creation, composition, recording and production, and is designed around three strands which run through each year of study: Creating Music, Recording and Producing Music, and The Music Professional.

This new role focuses on fostering innovative approaches to the music production discipline, and may cover a range of curriculum areas, including (but not limited to) record production, music cultures, and the evolving dynamics of the music industry. As a key member of our teaching staff, you will be responsible for in-person teaching, assessment, curriculum development, and ongoing scholarship in the field of music production.

This role is integral to the Sound and Music Programme at LCC. The successful candidate will work closely with the BA Music Production Course Leader and the Sound and Music Programme Director. Furthermore, they will work collaboratively within a dynamic course team, deploying their specialist expertise to develop and enhance our pedagogy and curriculum. Your contribution will be pivotal in steering the course towards innovative and critical directions, aligning with contemporary trends and technological advancements in music production.

About you

The ideal candidate for the post of Lecturer in the Music Production will have:

  • experience of delivering similar teaching at university-level (higher education)
  • practical expertise in the realm of music production, demonstrating a profound understanding of both the artistic and technical aspects of the field
  • a postgraduate qualification (ideally a doctorate) in music production, or a related subject area.

You will have a successful record in the design and delivery of engaging and effective education in the music production area/discipline. You have a natural flair for communicating complex concepts clearly and engagingly, making you an excellent mentor and educator. You will bring a visionary approach to music production as an academic discipline, with the capability to implement this vision in the development of the course curriculum. Your approach is forward-thinking, inclusive, and globally aware, aligning with our commitment to providing a comprehensive, inclusive, and contemporary music production education.

Collaboration is a key part of your professional ethos. You have built relationships within academic and industry circles and are enthusiastic about exploring future partnerships and collaborative opportunities. Your personal practice in music production and/or research is an indication of your creative and technical skills, and you understand the importance of nurturing creative pursuits, both personally and in your students.
