The opportunity

We are looking to recruit several new Associate Lecturers into the Communications and Media Programme to teach on our undergraduate and/or postgraduate degrees. The Communications and Media programme sits within the Media School and offers courses in Advertising, Contemporary Media Cultures, Media Communications, Media Communication and Critical Practice, and Public Relations.

Your main responsibilities as Associate Lecturer are teaching preparation, teaching (lectures and/or seminars and/or workshops), administration/email correspondence and assessment of related curriculum. You may also be delivering individual and/or group student tutorials. Successful applicants will be responsible for pedagogic and curriculum development that promotes diversity and inclusivity.

You will work closely with other academic staff, including Programme Director and Course Leaders. 

This is an hourly paid lecturer role, and you would be offered work from February 2024.

About you

Candidates will have Post Graduate qualifications in relevant academic fields or equivalent professional experience, and must be able to evidence previous experience of teaching in Higher Education. A PG Cert teaching qualification is desirable. You will take a dynamic and innovative approach to supporting excellent teaching, pedagogy, diversity and inclusivity. 

We are looking to recruit Associate Lecturers who can teach into one or more of the following areas:

  • Advertising: Social Media Advertising; Influencer marketing and creative advertising skills; marketing strategies; ‘pure creatives’
  • Public Relations: Practitioners and/or Researchers in a range of PR related specialisms.
  • Media Communications/Contemporary Media Cultures: Media Theory, Social Activism, Social Justice, Environmentalism, Social Media Platforms, Media Research Methods, Creative project supervision
  • Employability: We are looking for applicants with an up-to-date portfolio of professional practice in the media and creative industries and/or relevant research in that area.
