The opportunity

Are you an experienced fundraiser who believes the world needs creativity? University of the Arts London (UAL) is recruiting an experienced Development Manager to support the delivery of its first ever comprehensive fundraising campaign. As an experienced fundraiser, you will have a successful track record, and the skills required to lead on managing a pool primarily consisting of individual major-gift prospects.

You will work closely with the Head of Campaign and Head of Major and Principal Giving to craft cultivation and solicitation plans for your portfolio of individuals, and will also work with Development colleagues including our Trusts & Foundations and Corporate Partnerships teams, Events, Alumni Relations, and Development Operations.

UAL is a world-leading university for teaching and research in the fields of arts, design, and communications. We are rated 2nd in the world for Art and Design and offer a unique range of courses which annually foster the creative potential of over 20,000 students from across the world.

As a university committed to social purpose, we are dedicated to nurturing creativity  as a profound source of positive change in the world. To this end we are about to launch our first major fundraising campaign which aims to harness the support of our friends, alumni, and wider community to help deliver our aim to make the world a better place through our collective creative endeavour.

You will secure philanthropic support from individuals to help UAL fulfil its strategic objectives. From student support to academic posts, community-engagement programmes, and major capital projects including the London College of Communication’s new building, you will inspire a portfolio of major donors to invest in our vision, our students and our programmes.

About you

You’re great at building relationships with all kinds of people, cultivating those relationships through to a gift, and providing exemplary stewardship for your existing donors.

As a Development Manager, you’ll have excellent communications skills, and the ability to synthesise complex information into compelling fundraising language to share with supporters.  You’ll also have a demonstrable understanding of the creative arts and creative industries, and a passion for changing the world through creativity.

If you’d like to know more about the role, please contact Colette Stevenson, Head of Campaign, at c.b.stevenson@arts.ac.uk, for an informal conversation.

If you have any queries about this role or need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Sahil Ibrahim, Resourcing Adviser via email at Socialpurposestaffrecruitment@arts.ac.uk.
