The opportunity

The Screen School at London College of Communication seeks an experienced individual to join as a Senior Lecturer in Film Practice for the BA (Hons) Film Practice course. Situated within the broader portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the Screen School, the BA (Hons) Film Practice plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of creative professionals.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a key role in various aspects of the degree, including teaching and assessment leadership, curriculum design and pedagogical development, unit leadership, administrative tasks, year leadership responsibilities, recruitment assistance, and ongoing pastoral support to enhance the overall student experience. Additionally, you will be encouraged to contribute to research outputs in your specialised area, encompassing published work, conference papers, filmmaking, and other relevant forms of output.

About you

You will be a passionate practitioner dedicated to advancing the film practice specialism, particularly in screenwriting and film theory. Demonstrating a proven track record of delivering a high-quality student experience, you will actively contribute to curriculum development and uphold standards in specific areas of the degree. With a background in filmmaking and continuous professional development, you will possess teaching experience in higher education and managing the complex needs of a practical production degree.

Recognising the international and diverse nature of the student body, your approach to film and filmmaking must be inclusive, encompassing global and independent filmmaking traditions alongside mainstream industry models. You will stay abreast of the latest developments in the field, engaging in research and/or professional practice while providing academic and pastoral support to students.

Most importantly, you will be an enthusiastic teacher with a student-centred approach and an ability to foster participation in an inclusive and diverse classroom.

If you have any queries about this role or need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Deyka Hassan, Resourcing Assistant, lcc.jobs@lcc.arts.ac.uk or telephone: 020 7514 7985
