The opportunity
The Deputy Head of Centre & Institute Operations will work with the Head of Centre & Institute Operations to support the establishment of a new central service to support UAL’s Research Centres, Institutes, and allied activities.
The post holder will manage teams within the department, providing supportive management. They will work with colleagues across the Centres and Institutes team to understand and agree priorities and responsibilities, and to balance workloads and share best practice. You will use your project management skills and experience in your own work and will guide others in project management and delivery.
You will work independently and collaboratively, providing a professional, high quality, partner-facing service, supporting and advising the Head of Institute & Centre Operations to ensure Research Centres and associated activities are supported effectively, identifying opportunities for improvement of policies and procedures, resourcing, and planning, to produce maximum impact
The role will develop a full picture of current Research Centre and Institute partnerships and collaborations, to support the development of a comprehensive communications programme to enable greater understanding of UALs research activities.
About you
You will have a good knowledge of the UK Higher Education Research environment. You will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Leadership and Management: Proven record of managing staff and leading a high-performing team, and experience in leading and implementing strategies and plans.
- Collaboration and Relationship Building: You will have extensive experience in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and working collaboratively to ensure the delivery of strategic objectives.
- Communication: You will have exceptional communication skills, including the ability to build strong working relationships and communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
- Problem Solving: Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, business planning and strategic formulation.
You will be collaborative, target-driven, and a strong team player with a flexible approach to work. The role will include travel across UAL sites.
