The opportunity

Join our vibrant academic community at Chelsea College of Arts as an Academic Support Librarian and become an integral part of our Library Services team, contributing to the development of high-quality, student-focused library services.

Managing a small team, including an Assistant Academic Support Librarian and three part-time Library Assistants, you will have responsibility for Customer Service at Chelsea Library, overseeing local frontline services, managing staff timetables for desk cover, and representing Chelsea Library at department-wide working groups.

Your responsibilities will extend to supporting specific courses and programmes of study, actively participating in course committees, and fostering constructive working relationships with course teams. Your role will be instrumental in promoting access to resources, collections, and services through effective academic liaison and information dissemination. You will also assist in the provision of enquiry services and developing learning materials that encourage the utilisation of resources and services.

Working Pattern:

  • Monday to Friday, with one or more evenings per week until 18:00 during the undergraduate term.
  • One or more evenings per week until 18:15 during the vacation period.

About you

We are seeking an individual with a degree-level qualification and relevant experience. While a recognised library qualification is desirable, equivalent experience in other education or information roles and related disciplines will also be considered.

Your will need to possess demonstrable experience in a library or customer service environment with the ability to motivate a team and work independently without direct supervision. Excellent written and oral communication skills, coupled with IT literacy, are also required.
