The opportunity

Based primarily at Camberwell College of Arts, this full time, permanent role, is a direct teaching, coordination and line management position. It will include working with students to provide both embedded and centralised Academic Support across courses based at Camberwell College of Arts and, where appropriate, across the three colleges as part of the wider CCW Academic Support team.

As a core member of the Academic Support Team at Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon you’ll collaborate effectively with Programme /Course Teams and with other Academic Support colleagues in the University to implement the Library and Academic Support Strategy, as part of the Library and Student Services Directorate. You’ll apply inclusive practices which recognise the diversity of the student population at UAL and demonstrate an understanding of the specific subject disciplines taught in the Schools of Design and Art based at Camberwell.

The successful candidate will be required to devise, deliver and oversee high quality Academic Support tailored to the needs of individuals, groups and subjects, enabling students to develop as confident independent learners and to fulfil their academic potential. The role will include the delivery of specific initiatives that support students transitioning into and progressing through HE education, including post-graduate study, and coordinating the college-based Academic Support offer.  You’ll also contribute to the monitoring, management and development of the offer, working in consultation with colleagues within Academic Support and the wider college communities.

About you

You’ll be educated to a minimum of Masters degree level and have significant experience of developing and delivering learning development initiatives, supporting students to fulfil their academic potential within an HE and/or FE setting and managing members of a team. Excellent teaching, communication and management skills are essential, together with an enthusiastic and supportive approach that will inspire both students and staff to succeed to the best of their abilities.

You’ll possess the ability to lead and work collaboratively with a team and across different professional groups. An effective communicator, you are able to adapt the message for a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible way, building and maintaining positive relationships with students and staff alike.

Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday 9th January 2024.
