The opportunity

University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking for an experienced Project Manager to assist with the delivery of our Sanctuary Programme. This is an exciting opportunity to help create a supportive and inclusive environment at UAL, helping us to fulfil our ambition to become a social purpose university.

UAL is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students and staff, and we are proud to be working towards becoming a University of Sanctuary, dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals who have lived experience of displacement, including those identifying as refugees, asylum-seekers, internally displaced persons, and stateless persons.

As Sanctuary Programme Manager, you will assist us in this ambition, by coordinating, developing and implementing a comprehensive plan for our University of Sanctuary initiative.

You will lead on operational delivery, building on the success of existing programmes to enhance the support provided to refugee and asylum-seeking students and staff at UAL. You will also strengthen stakeholder relationships and will support the consolidation and development of relevant networks, ensuring that work aligns with UAL’s Social Purpose Transition Plan and Global Engagement Strategy.

About you

You will be a personable individual, who can demonstrate acute cultural awareness and/or linguistic skills relevant to sanctuary communities. You will provide an in-depth knowledge and experience of sanctuary work, including fundraising, planning and developing project proposals. You will also possess previous experience of project management, including the development of successful collaborative bids for funded projects.

A strong set of communication skills is essential, including the ability to communicate persuasively, presenting compelling arguments that can be adapted to diverse audiences in an inclusive and accessible way. You will be an excellent team player, who works well with colleagues, key stakeholders and partners, and can develop relationships both internally and externally.

Excellent organisational skills and experience of monitoring programmes of work across multiple partners, demands and objectives, is essential.
