The opportunity

The Peckham Digital Accelerator Zone (DAZ) is a collaborative initiative between UAL Creative Computing Institute (CCI), UK Black Tech (UKBT), and the London Borough of Southwark. Funded by the Institute of Coding in collaboration with Nominet, the project’s primary objective is to deliver web, e-commerce and data science training to learners from Peckham’s black community, with the goal of accelerating businesses in the South London area.

The Project Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of this program by collaborating with partner organisations, managing the training program, and overseeing the project’s budget and timelines. The role involves being responsible to the Principal Investigator for:

  • Project management of the Peckham Digital Accelerator Zone project (DAZ), from inception to completion according to the requirements of the Institute of Coding Click Start funding proposal and the Nominet terms of funding; including design, delivery, reporting, research write-up and course design, organisation and participation in dissemination events and the continued monitoring and reporting of outcomes
  • Day-to-day management of the DAZ project including management of its schedule, resources, budget, partner engagement and participants as appropriate
  • Working with project partners to meet the desired and agreed project outcomes
  • Observing and implementing the needs and exceptions of the funder, CCI and other project partners.

About you

This is an exciting role to create new opportunities in Peckham for marginalised communities working with CCI, UK Black Tech and London Borough of Southwark. You will be at the heart of a vibrant project which brings new skills to the area. A successful applicant would meet the following criteria, and have a passion for transforming the Peckham and surrounding area.   • A strong background in project management, particularly in the education and community development sectors including a proven experience of managing budgets and financial reporting.
  • Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Understanding of the challenges and opportunities in Peckham and the broader tech industry
  • Communicates effectively orally and in writing adapting the message for a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible way
  • Plans, prioritises and manages resources effectively to achieve long term objectives
  • Contributes to improving or adapting provision to enhance the student experience or customer service
  • Suggests practical solutions to new or unique problems
  • Familiarity with e-commerce, web technology, and data science training programs.
