The opportunity

University of the Arts London is looking for a Social Purpose Analysis, Research and Evaluation Manager to join our team within the newly formed Social Purpose Lab.

You will work with the Associate Director Social Purpose Transformation to embed UAL’s social purpose strategy across our teaching, research, operations and external relations. To achieve this, you will undertake a range of analytical, research and evaluation duties that will help the university to strategically prioritise the changes needed to accelerate and deepen our positive social impact.

You will develop a public-facing dashboard to exhibit key university metrics and will also contribute to our Evidence Library, ensuring that all the relevant learning from our change efforts is transparently shared in a usable format for a variety of audiences.

You will collaborate with the university’s research community on ‘living labs’, bringing our institutional research expertise to bear on our own problems and research questions. In addition to this, you will design evaluation tools and methodologies that can be applied to all areas of the university’s operations, to help understand the impact of our change efforts and support decision-makers to make more informed strategic choices.

About you

We are looking for an individual with strong analytical and research skills, including a sound understanding of evaluation methodologies. You will display a range of experience and knowledge of data analysis and visualisation, database management and/or data journalism. A familiarity with quantitative and qualitative evaluation methodologies, as well as experience of research synthesis, translation and communication will also be essential.

You will possess excellent communication skills along with the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple, accessible way to a range of audiences. You will be capable of project managing external research consultants/suppliers, paid interns and temporary staff, and will be able to help others plan meaningful research and evaluation activities.
