The opportunity
This new role is created to coordinate and support the delivery of Central Saint Martins’ Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, playing a key role in the further development of the plan. The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager will work within the college environment and in close liaison with the central University of the Arts London Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team. A key focus for the role holder will be to work to improve and enhance practices across all aspects of Central Saint Martins, including initiatives that support equitable and inclusive student and staff experiences. Priorities for the role holder will include, coordinating and supporting the delivery of equality, diversity and inclusion focussed training and development for staff and students, contributing to the improvement of staff and student recruitment practices, supporting the development of teaching, learning and assessment enhancements that address awarding gaps and decolonisation of curriculum and pedagogy and, with an equality, diversity and inclusion focus, supporting the review of vision and strategy for the college. Working collaboratively within the college and across the wider university, the role-holder will coordinate and enable the delivery of the commitments made in the university’s Anti-Racism Action Plan from the perspective of Central Saint Martins.
About you
You will be educated to first degree level or have equivalent professional experience.
You will have previous experience of working in an equality, diversity and inclusion role.
You will have demonstrable knowledge of equity, equality, diversity and inclusion, including approaches to anti-racism and decolonisation in a higher education setting.
Working across stakeholders, including students but also academic and professional services staff, you will be skilled in communicating and in leading projects that methodically deliver improvement. You will be confident in supporting and guiding people through change, towards an end goal.
You will be able to work independently and collaboratively and prioritise and organise your own workload to meet timelines. You can plan, prioritise, and manage resources effectively to achieve objectives and take initiative with problem-solving to identify and escalate, emerging issues, opportunities, or risks to senior managers.
