The opportunity
Join London College of Communication’s BA (Hons) User Experience Design course as a Senior Lecturer and Year Leader, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of UX professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your expertise in interaction design, user experience design, creative technology, and service and systems design to a dynamic, diverse, and forward-thinking learning environment.
As Senior Lecturer, you will contribute to teaching, curriculum development, and student support, delivering an inclusive, industry-relevant, and critically engaged approach to UX education. In your role as Year Leader, you will foster a cohesive and supportive academic experience, guiding students through the evolving landscape of user-centred practice across a range of design contexts and technological platforms.
Your role will involve:
- Delivering high-quality, innovative teaching and assessment in UX design.
- Embedding inclusive, decolonial, and accessible pedagogies within the curriculum.
- Leading assessment organisation and ensuring rigorous and fair evaluation of student work.
- Providing academic and pastoral support, guiding students through their learning journey.
- Engaging in research, knowledge exchange, or professional practice that contributes to the course and wider UX field.
- Collaborating across teams to enhance links between education, industry, and emerging UX trends.
Your profile
You will be an experienced educator, practitioner, or researcher in UX, interaction design, or a related field, with a passion for supporting diverse learners. You will have:
- A post-graduate degree in Design, Industrial Design, User Experience Design, Design for Sustainability, Service Design, Interaction Design, Creative Technology, Digital Fabrication, Human-Centred Design, or a related field.
- Teaching experience in Higher Education with mentoring/training responsibilities.
- A strong understanding of User Experience design, human-centred research, and emerging industry trends.
- A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in design education.
- Experience leading projects, teams, or initiatives that enhance learning, student experience, or curriculum development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.
