The opportunity
It is an exciting time to join UAL as a Research and Innovation Funding Manager, as the university increases its leadership of complex multi research partner projects. Joining our central research funding team, you will have the opportunity to grow and further your experiences to date; supporting the pre and post award phases of large projects such as recently completed projects AHRC funded Towards a National Collection (TaNC) scheme: Transforming collections: reimagining art, nation and heritage project (£3m) and the Creative Clusters programme: Business of Fashion Textiles and Technology (£5.5m)
As a Research and Innovation Funding Manager leading a team of Funding Officers, you will have and continue to develop an in-depth knowledge of current funding schemes and initiatives from UKRI and their Research Councils and other charitable funders that align with the university’s research capabilities, including remit, eligibility, application, assessment, and award set up processes. You will support academic staff and project managers to understand and develop detailed budgets in line with both the funder’s terms and conditions and university policies. Award set up support will include overseeing the development of collaboration and partnership agreements which you will manage and coordinate, drawing on expertise from colleagues in legal services.
You will also undertake some due diligence checks on project partners and new awarding organisations. You will also contribute to ongoing compliance monitoring in partnership with colleagues in our finance teams to ensure post award grant management aligns with the terms and conditions of funding. The role holder will work closely with the Head of Research and Innovation Funding to review and improve pre and post award processes to ensure the highest levels of delivery.
Your profile
Applicants from Higher Education or Research Councils are particularly welcomed, although wider charitable funding experience will also be considered.
As large parts of this role entail providing a partnership service and managing relationships, your application will need to demonstrate your ability to engage partners from a range of different sectors. You will also need good organisational and record keeping skills to ensure accurate data capture for reporting and monitoring.
Please apply early as we shall close the application process before the advertised closing date if we receive a high volume of applications.
