The opportunity
London College of Communication’s Technical Resources team is looking for a Specialist Technician with excellent photography knowledge, skills and experience to join us on a part time basis.
As part of our team of technicians, you will help provide technical support to the College’s photography department and programme. The College has access to a range of facilities, including B/W and colour processing darkrooms, flash and continual lighting studios, and digital scanning and inkjet printing, including a Chromira light jet printing service for students.
You will lead, deliver and supervise learning activities, providing expert guidance and technical advice in photography image capture, helping students to identify and supply appropriate techniques, processes, materials, resources, and equipment to meet learning outcomes.
In addition to this, you will assist in the day-to-day running of the photography studios and darkrooms, including the use and booking of specialist facilities. This role involves evening cover for the technical facilities, including two late night openings.
About you
You will have a comprehensive knowledge of photographic image capture across both analogue and digital, including experience of colour and B/W darkrooms, film processing and studio lighting techniques.
Health and Safety is a vital part of this role, and student welfare is of the highest priority. You’ll demonstrate excellent knowledge of H&S requirements, along with the ability to manage your own workload and communicate clearly to both students and staff.
Experience of teaching and/or demonstrating photographic equipment and techniques is essential, along with an understanding of photographic production, methods, and techniques.
If you have any queries about this role or need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Lesley Wilkins, Senior Resourcing Adviser, lcc.jobs@lcc.arts.ac.uk
