The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced maker and teacher to work as a technician in the 3D Workshop at Wimbledon College of Arts, for an immediate start covering paternity leave.
This newly renovated workshop supports several courses around the disciplines of Theatre and Performance. The 3D workshop is a place for students to complete a variety of briefs in courses such as set design, puppetry, costume, etc.
Your role will involve collaborating with another technician to oversee operations and support students in the 3D Workshop. You’ll play a pivotal role, teaching and assisting students in utilising both traditional and digital techniques and tools effectively. There should be a focus on sharing knowledge with students with a goal to make the 3D resource as accessible as possible. Safety is key in this unique environment, and you’ll be required to engage in regular maintenance and share best practice with students.
About you
You’ll have a minimum of a BA degree in a Fine Art or Design discipline.
We are looking for someone with a diverse skill set across a variety of materials. Proficiency in handling vector and 3D files is required, while expertise in wood and metalwork would be advantageous. A friendly demeanour and a willingness to share knowledge generously are crucial attributes as we aim to inspire and support the emerging generation of artists and designers.
