The opportunity

We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent cataloguing skills to work with the Camberwell College of Arts Archive.

The Camberwell College Archive is a collection of primary material documenting the history of Camberwell College of Arts from 1898 to the present. It includes prospectuses, minutes of meetings of Boards of Governors, exhibition and degree show catalogues, photograph albums, private view cards and other College ephemera. The collection is not catalogued, but partial hand lists exist. The Archive is a research resource that we utilise to engage with past students and members of staff and with art education researchers.

You will contribute to a programme to organise and catalogue UAL’s archives, and special collections, to make them discoverable and to support teaching, learning and research at UAL and beyond.

About you

With a demonstrable interest in educational or institutional history, you will have a degree in, arts or humanities, a qualification in information, archives or museum studies, or equivalent experience in a cultural heritage environment.

Ideally, we are seeking a candidate with demonstrable knowledge and experience of working to international standards in cataloguing and collections care. You will have excellent attention to detail and time management skills.

You will create realistic plans to achieve the agreed deadlines and objectives of the role and provide guidance and support to colleagues and occasionally to users who access the collections. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an understanding of the academic context of the University.

As part of this, you will need to provide a supporting statement/answer some competency questions to demonstrate your suitability. Our recruitment process involves: Application, Shortlisting, Interview and Assessment, Offer, Onboarding.

We understand the benefits of using AI in work. But, if you are thinking of using it to submit an application, we ask you to think about what value it adds.
