The opportunity

We are seeking to recruit a highly experienced and passionate lecturer to join our MA Design for Visual Communication course. We believe that visual communication bridges graphic design for print, branding, spatial, motion design and immersive experiences. As a result the course marries the application of fundamental graphic design principles with the exploration of craft and emerging visual technologies.

This is a great opportunity for an individual with experience of the professional practice in graphic design and visual communication as well as a passion for teaching and learning in art and design at post-graduate level. An enthusiasm for guiding and mentoring students is essential in this role, and a thorough understanding of design research – such as critical, reflexive, and speculative methods would be desirable.

Your profile

As a Lecturer in MA Design for Visual Communication, you will work closely with the Course Leader to design and deliver unit content. You will guide and support students navigating and exploring tools, platforms, and software as well as developing their portfolios, research skills, and design practice. You will play a key role in curriculum development bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the course. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to help build partnerships with external collaborators and industry professionals, ensuring the curriculum remains relevant and forward-thinking.

We are looking for someone with significant experience in, and understanding of, graphic design practice, which could be predominantly in an industry, academic or creative context. You should have enthusiasm for teaching or mentoring students, through workshops, lectures, or individual support, and a keen interest in fostering research-led learning.

If you’re passionate about graphic design, visual communication, and inspiring the next generation of designers, we invite you to join our team and contribute to the continued success of this exciting and dynamic programme.

If you have any queries about this role or need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Lesley Wilkins, Senior Resourcing Adviser, lcc.jobs@lcc.arts.ac.uk or Henrietta Ross, Programme Director Graphic Design Communication, at h.ross@lcc.arts.ac.uk

We understand the benefits of using AI in work. But, if you are thinking of using it to submit an application, we ask you to think about what value it adds.
