The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced education developer to join the Digital Learning Practice (DLP) team, on a full-time, permanent basis. We are based within UAL’s Learning and Teaching Directorate, a central service that works to enhance teaching and learning across the University. Working across Colleges, Institutes and Professional Services, you’ll bring people and expertise together to interpret the Education Strategy in the context of digital learning, and coordinate priorities across UAL.

You’ll critically engage with emerging developments in digital education to inform policy and shape institutional approaches. You’ll translate these insights into engaging professional learning, guidance, resources, and opportunities that support colleagues to make thoughtful, informed decisions about digital practice. You’ll also help shape critical conversations around the role of digital technologies, environments and practices in enabling, reshaping or constraining learning, teaching and creative practice.

Pre-application Webinar

We are offering a pre-application webinar where you can learn more about the vacancy, meet the team and ask questions.

Date: Wednesday 11 November 2026

Time: 11:00 am (GMT)

Your profile

You’ll be an experienced educational developer with a degree in a relevant education, digital learning or related discipline and substantial experience of working with digital learning in higher education or comparable contexts. You’ll also have experience of cultivating a culture of continuous professional development, supporting staff to engage with emerging pedagogies, technologies, and evidence-informed practice within higher education.

You’ll have demonstrable knowledge of contemporary digital learning pedagogies and emerging developments in digital education, including AI-enabled technologies. As a skilled communicator and collaborative leader, you’ll be able to build credibility and consensus with diverse audiences and influence across organisational boundaries.  Most importantly, you’ll be curious, critically minded and able to connect developments in digital education with the distinctive context of creative arts education, while questioning their educational, social and cultural implications.
