How does UAL support reasonable adjustments and accessibility throughout the recruitment process?

Overview

UAL is committed to ensuring its recruitment process is fair, inclusive and accessible. Candidates who require reasonable adjustments are encouraged to share their needs so appropriate support can be put in place at each stage of the process.

Requests for adjustments do not affect how applications are assessed.

Commitment to inclusive recruitment

UAL aims to remove barriers that may prevent candidates from fully participating in the recruitment process. Applications are anonymised for shortlisting, and selection panels are trained to assess candidates fairly and consistently.

UAL is a Disability Confident Scheme (DCS) Level 1 Committed employer and a member of the Business Disability Forum. Applications from disabled candidates are actively encouraged.

Disability Confident Scheme (DCS)

Under the Disability Confident Scheme (DCS), UAL is committed to offering an interview to disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for a role.

In some circumstances, such as when a very high volume of applications is received, it may be necessary to limit interviews to the highest scoring candidates who best meet the essential criteria. Further information about how the scheme operates is available on the Application form information page.

Requesting reasonable adjustments

Candidates who require reasonable adjustments can share their requirements either in advance or through the application form, which includes a section to outline any support needs.

Adjustments may include, but are not limited to:

  • Changes to interview format
  • Additional time for assessments
  • Alternative assessment methods
  • Support with online systems

Requests for reasonable adjustments are reviewed only by the Resourcing Team managing the vacancy and are shared solely for the purpose of arranging appropriate support.

Interviews and assessments

If you are invited to interview or assessment, the Resourcing Team will work with you to ensure reasonable adjustments are in place. Any agreed adjustments will be communicated ahead of the assessment stage.

Where additional stages are required, such as presentations or practical assessments, candidates will be informed in advance and given the opportunity to discuss support needs.
