The opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Specialist Technician in Graphic Design with a working knowledge of digital design practice to contribute to the technical teaching activities at Chelsea College of Arts, on a fixed term basis.
In this role, you will guide and support students in developing proficiency with specialist techniques and production methods with a focus on digital technologies. You will provide constructive feedback on their concepts and creative intentions, helping them achieve course learning outcomes.
You will lead both formal and informal teaching sessions, including demonstrations, software instruction, and coaching in technical and creative processes. You will advise on techniques, materials, and resources, while ensuring the safe and effective use of specialist facilities such as studios, and digital labs. Additionally, you will contribute to curriculum planning, the creation of online learning resources, and the ongoing enhancement of course delivery, working closely with Course Leaders and academic staff.
Your profile
You will hold a degree in Graphic Design or have equivalent professional experience, with demonstrable expertise in digital design and production tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro), Figma, ReadyMag, and Blender, as well as knowledge of AR/VR applications.
You will have experience teaching or supporting students in a higher education context, capable of translating complex technical and creative concepts into clear, engaging instruction.
Proficiency in managing technical equipment, from 3D printers to scanners, and practical knowledge of print production, book arts, and contemporary AI-assisted creative workflows is desirable. You should also be confident guiding students in digital and interactive design, video and audio documentation, and emerging technologies, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
