The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified Library Assistant to join our friendly evening team at CCW based at Camberwell College of Arts library.
As a member of the Library Services team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of high quality and student-focused library services which support the academic activities of the University.
Working collaboratively, you will participate in both front-line and administrative duties. You will assist users with initial information enquiries in person and online using our live chat service ASK. This includes helping with the use of library materials, dealing with account queries, and supporting students with general purpose software.
In addition to this you will:
- Provide support for self-issue systems, IT and printing.
- Participate in stock-related duties such as retrieving and circulating items.
- Help maintain and care for our collections as needed.
- Keep the library in good order in accordance with best health and safety practice and security guidelines.
This is a term-time role, for 38 weeks per year equating to 0.51 FTE. The evening service runs during undergraduate term-time (3 terms per year), Monday to Friday 18:00 to 22:15pm (4.25 hours per day).
Depending on the academic year 31 weeks are worked in the evening, and other hours (reserve hours) will be used for training, attending meetings and working during the day as arranged with your line manager.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a compassionate and student-centred approach and you will need to be flexible and adaptable to changing service needs along with a strong ability to collaborate.
You should have relevant library or customer service experience, and formal training to post 16 level. You will be a good communicator with excellent written skills and a confident IT user, including Microsoft office. Working flexibly within a team, you will provide a positive and responsive customer focused service.
Knowledge and experience within a Higher Education institution is desirable but not essential.
