The opportunity
The director will work with students to write, devise, design, and perform original theatre for young audiences (ages 8–12).
The project will take inspiration from The Taming of the Shrew or Much Ado About Nothing, reimagining these stories through contemporary lenses and influences from theatre, film, animation, live art, and world cultures. Students will adapt the texts to explore themes of identity and societal roles, presenting them in a playful, imaginative, and accessible way for young audiences.
Your profile
The successful candidate will possess:
- Strong devising and collaborative creation skills.
- Experience in applied theatre and working with children/young people.
- The ability to shape material into clear, engaging narratives.
- Playful, imaginative storytelling across art forms (puppetry, movement, music, multimedia).
- Skilled facilitator: inclusive, child-centered, and empowering.
- Strong communication and collaborative leadership.
- Flexible, adaptable, and sensitive to group dynamics.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and ethical practice.
- Organised with good project management skills.
