The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to join the Image Capture Studios (ICS) team as a Specialist Technician at the London College of Communication.
The ICS technical facility provides college-wide students with access to a range of imaging facilities from photography, moving image and 3D capture studios to analogue darkrooms, film scanning and bespoke inkjet printing. As a full-service imaging department, ICS has a keen interest in emerging technologies and developing our 3D capture facilities through photogrammetry, 3D scanning, volumetric capture, virtual production and AI.
Reporting to the ICS Technical Coordinator, you will join a dynamic team of skilled technicians dedicated to enhancing the student experience and delivering industry-standard services. Working alongside both technicians and academic staff, you will ensure students are trained in the safe, innovative, and professional use of the college’s technical resources.
You will provide expertise, guidance, and advice in 3D capture, photography, and moving image production, while overseeing, maintaining, and instructing students in the use of the studios, scanners, digital print facilities, 3D capture equipment, and production resources within the Image Capture Studios.
Your profile
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive team member who is adept at communicating effectively, has a wide range of technical expertise in lens-based media and can demonstrate specific experience and commitment to emerging technologies, particularly within the field of photogrammetry and 3D scanning.
A degree level qualification is essential, while a PgCert in Art, Design and Communication would be desirable.
You will have proficient experience with a range of digital camera systems and studio lighting for photography and videography. You will also possess advanced IT skills, including a familiarity with a range of relevant 2D and 3D software applications.
We expect high levels of technical competence, professionalism, and a dedication to continued personal development.
