The opportunity

As a Lecturer in Smart and Digital Textiles for BA (Hons) Textile Design, you will work within a creative team who value textiles as an expansive and essential discipline, central to interdisciplinary collaboration and future-facing design.

In this role, you will lead on teaching and curriculum development with a focus on smart textiles, coding, digital workflows and emerging material technologies. You’ll deliver practice-based learning that supports students to explore how democratised technologies, textiles and culture could intersect in new ways within an ethical and futures framework.

The course is part of the Design and Material Practices Programme within the Design School and is based at Chelsea College of Arts.

Your profile

We are looking for candidates with experience in teaching and assessment in Higher Education, holding a relevant undergraduate degree in design or a related subject. This role is particularly suited to individuals with a background in smart textiles, coding and emerging material technologies, with an appetite for developing Textile Design education fit for future purpose.

Your experience should be also supported by evidence of research, knowledge exchange, or professional practice that contributes to advancing the discipline.

Strong communication skills, effective planning and a collaborative approach are also essential.

Should you have any questions about the role, please contact Claire Anderson / c.anderson@chelsea.arts.ac.uk.

Should you have any questions about the application process or require reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Christine Crouch / jobs.ccw@arts.ac.uk.
