The opportunity

Would you like to lead a team of specialist technicians and a suite of the coolest art and design fabrication workshops in London? This isn't just a management role; it's a chance to shape the next generation of creative practice by championing the crucial role of "thinking through making."

As the 3D Workshops Manager, you’ll effectively and efficiently manage specialist workshop spaces within our three colleges at Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon. This will include the day-to-day line management of a large technical team, while also ensuring our diverse student body, spanning a wide range of creative courses, has unparalleled access to innovative tools, equipment, and expertise.

Your role is pivotal to the day-to-day running of our workshops, ensuring that all activities run efficiently and safely. You’ll play a key part in maintaining an exceptional learning and creative environment, where students receive consistent, high-quality support in line with the University’s professional and quality standards.

Your profile

Perhaps you're already in a technical role and would like to be more involved in operations and strategy? In this role you'll have a chance to develop and implement a unified strategy for the workshops, ensuring they remain at the cutting edge of art and design fabrication technologies and pedagogy.

You'll need to demonstrate success in leading, mentoring, and developing teams, particularly within a complex, multi-site environment. While your core skill is leadership, you must possess a solid understanding of technical making processes across a range of disciplines (e.g. digital fabrication, ceramics, wood/metalwork) and how these technologies support creative learning.

Closing date: 24 November @23.55

The scheduled interview date is 11 December
