The opportunity
We believe the world needs creativity. That’s why University of the Arts London (UAL) is a social purpose university, dedicated to nurturing creativity and deploying it to help solve the world’s problems. At the core of our 10-year strategy is a commitment to making the world a better place through our collective creative endeavour.
As part of this mission, we are now seeking a motivated and talented Creative Producer to join the new UAL-wide Communications function that sits within the Social Purpose group.
Working to a shared communications strategy across the University, for staff, students and external audiences and reporting to the Head of Creative, this is a pivotal role which balances, creative strategy, account management, project management and leading Creatives.
The role enables our designers do their best work by taking care of creative operations and strategy, so they can focus on the creative. This might look different for every project—at times it’s about providing structure and clear deadlines, sometimes it’s pushing back on ideas in favour of what will best serve the brief, other times it might be asking our stakeholders for more time or delivering early.
You will joining a team of 8 multi-disciplinary designers and key in facilitating the design process from beginning to end, responding to a variety of briefs from across the organisation from multiple stakeholders.
The Social Purpose Group brings together Communication, UAL’s Social Purpose Lab, Fundraising and UAL’s recently launched Storytelling Institute. Together, the group will enable the University to change and shape the world for the better.
The Communications department is a collaborative, creative and inclusive team who understand the role of communications in championing the transformative power of creative education. We speak on behalf of the Creative Industries across all platforms and cultivate relationships with some of the country’s leading experts and opinion formers.
UAL Creative is University of the Arts London’s in-house design studio. Since 2019 we have been building a team including alumni, recent graduates and occasionally students. We are a group of multi-disciplinary designers, freelance and permanent, Junior to Senior typically working on: design strategy, design thinking, design systems, campaign design—including print, digital and animated assets and digital product design for teams and projects across the University. We also work with designers through UAL Arts Temps, our university recruitment agency and jobs board, giving UAL students and alumni the opportunity to work freelance within our team.
The Creative team has a vital role to play. We want to bring a high quality education and experience to more students than ever before and give our students the education they need to flourish in a changing world.
This is a hybrid role, based at our High Holborn site, but is part of the wider Communication community so will include occasional time spent at our other London sites as needed.
About you
As an experienced Creative Producer with in-depth experience of the creative process, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience of success in similar roles within the sector, fostering relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at senior levels while consistently supporting the delivery of impactful design and creative.
- A track record facilitating high performing, creative design teams, creating and maintaining timelines, assigning tasks and keeping the team aligned to the roadmap to achieve our own and stakeholder goals.
