The opportunity
University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking for an experienced PR and Media Relations Manager to play a leading role in the delivery of our corporate communications.
You will help to elevate UAL’s profile on a range of issues, such as the climate emergency and social and racial justice, by leading communications and spearheading campaigns and profile-building opportunities to ensure that UAL’s voice is central to the ongoing discourse surrounding the value of the Creative Industries.
You will use your proactive media skills to create and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets and influencers, increasing UAL’s visibility and influence. Working with teams from across the University, you will develop media campaigns that amplify UAL’s impact nationally and internationally with targeted audiences, as well as lead strategic corporate communications to ensure that UAL is positioned as a champion for change.
About you
As an experienced PR and Media Relations Manager with in-depth experience of corporate, policy and advocacy communications, you will be able to demonstrate:
• Experience of success in similar management roles within the sector, fostering relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at senior levels while consistently delivering impactful press campaigns
• A track record leading campaigns, crafting effective communication messages, and collaborating with journalists to secure media coverage
• Skill in writing compelling copy, simplifying complex concepts, and nurturing a passion for our organisation’s purpose and values
• Line management experience with a commitment to a supportive and inclusive environment that prioritises both the well-being and professional growth of team members
Additionally, you will have exceptional organisational, planning, and project management skills, adept at forward-thinking, prioritisation, flexible and accurate execution even in high-pressure situations.
Supporting colleagues across the University, you must be able to collaborate effectively with various teams across diverse professional disciplines.
