The opportunity

Are you a printmaking specialist with proven technical skills and experience? Do you want to help students to develop their ideas, independence and proficiency? University of the Arts London (UAL) has an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Technician to join our technical team.

Based in the School of Pre-Degree Studies, you will provide technical expertise, guidance and advice that contributes to the delivery of learning activities within our Printmaking workshop.

You will supervise learning activities in the workshops and will support students with various printmaking processes, equipment and making techniques, including screen-print, mono-print, relief print, dry point etching, letterpress, bookbinding, cyanotype, and heat-press.

You will play a key role in enabling students to identify and learn these techniques and processes, helping them to meet their learning outcomes and to develop their skills and expertise in the subject.

About you

We are looking for a personable and positive individual, with effective communication, organisational and teamwork skills. You will possess a degree level qualification in Art, Design or Communications, or will have relevant experience/certification that demonstrates the relevant technical knowledge required for the role.

You will possess an understanding of current and emerging digital printing and related technologies within contemporary practices, along with extensive technical knowledge of the equipment, materials, processes and techniques used within our Printmaking. From time to time, you may be asked to also assist across our other foundation workshops.
