The opportunity
Purpose of the role
The role of the Cybersecurity Compliance Officer is integral to protecting UAL’s vital information assets by ensuring adherence to industry regulations. This position involves actively monitoring UAL’s compliance with cybersecurity and privacy laws, as well as evaluating the risks associated with integrating new technologies into UAL’s business strategies. Additionally, the Cybersecurity Compliance Officer will provide support during incident response procedures and work closely with auditors and regulators to enhance cybersecurity measures.
The post holder will be required to build effective relationships at all levels within the University.
About you
Key duties and responsibilities
- Develop and maintain UAL’s cybersecurity compliance programme, ensuring alignment with relevant laws, regulations, and certifications.
- Regularly conduct audits and assessments of UAL’s information systems and processes to guarantee regulatory compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Perform CyberSecurity Third-Party Assurance assessments on UAL’s technology providers to proactively mitigate risks throughout the entire supplier relationship lifecycle.
- Drive innovation and improvement within UAL’s cybersecurity programme to stay ahead of emerging threats and evolving compliance requirements.
- Represent the CyberSecurity Team at UAL Committee and other meetings.
- Collaborate closely with external auditors to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of information security audits.
- Partner with cross-functional departments, to integrate cybersecurity compliance requirements into their workflows and processes.
- Work collaboratively with the wider CyberSecurity Team on various projects and initiatives.
- Produce relevant and user-friendly cybersecurity guidance and documentation to support staff and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a data-driven approach to cybersecurity compliance, leveraging metrics and analytics to drive informed decision-making.
- Act as a proactive advocate for cybersecurity awareness within the organisation, promoting modern best practices in information management and governance.
- Ensure effective training and awareness programmes are in place and their effectiveness measured through internal audit and other mechanisms.
