The opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced academic to spend a year leading UAL’s PgCert Academic Practice. If you are an experienced educational developer who shares our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment, and are excited by the prospect of working with the next generation of arts educators, we would encourage you to apply.
You will assume responsibility for the academic leadership and management of the course, including all areas of learning, teaching and assessment of the students, whilst observing and implementing the policies and procedures of the University and the Teaching, Learning and Employability Exchange.
You will also work closely with Unit Leaders and Tutors to support course organisation, management and the student experience, taking responsibility for the development and delivery of the curriculum.
You will take a research-informed approach to PgCert in Academic Practice, integrating an inclusive approach throughout. You will also have the confidence to work with your fellow practitioners and educators, facilitating groups and communicating in a range of learning environments, including teaching on site at our Elephant and Castle campus (and occasionally online).

About you
We are looking for a motivated educational developer who is passionate about arts education and has leadership experience. You will see diversity as central to arts education professional practice and have experience of course administration, pedagogic innovation, and assessment processes. You will also have the ability to manage a small tutor team and work collaboratively with peers.
Applicants should have:
- Previous experience of educational development
- Previous experience of academic practice provision leadership
- Good awareness of HE teaching and learning in the creative arts
- A postgraduate degree in a related subject area
- A PgCert in higher education (or equivalent teaching qualification)
- Fellowship of the HEA.
